I have just finished "Let the River flow" which I have painted for some friends of mine. I had this picture in my head when I was in church one day. The start of it was featured in my last blog post. The second one, of Giraffes is still a work in progress. I'm still trying to decide if I like it as it is, but I have this voice in the back of my head telling me it still needs a bit of work.
Today I want to dedicate my blog post to those who died in the tragic Villagio Mall fire, here in Doha. I want honor those who died, and I pray for the families and loved ones left behind. My heart goes out to the parents of the 13 little children who died. I am reminded of the verse in Romans 12 which says "rejoice with those who rejoice, mourn with those who mourn". To the brave fire-fighters (two of whom paid the ultimate price) and to the amazing paramedics and civil defense personal, thank you for commitment to saving lives.
I'd like to end this post with a verse from a song I wrote for my father when he suddenly passed away two years ago:
"And now you're safe in His arms
free from all live's harms,
with the King by your side
you're walking, walking
on streets of gold"

Louise, what beautiful thoughts and words, tragedies like these make me pull my little ones close and say prayers of thanks ... life is so fragile.
I LOVE your new pieces! Let the River Flow... Stunning colors and I absolutely can feel the movement!
I just adore the giraffes! They are such a loving little group, makes me think of family and friends. I imagine it would be lonely being that tall... unless you have a few more up there with you. :)

Hi Louise! My name is Dominika and I'm from Croatia.
I was looking for people based in Qatar who are selling their work on Etsy and I found you. I would like to meet you :) I also live in Doha. I've been here since January 2011. There are lots of fairs in Doha that you can participate in with your work.
First one that I know is at a Museum of Islamic Art Park in October. There's also a group of artisans on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/QatARTartisans?ref=ts where you can find information about upcoming events.
Hope to meet you soon!
Hugs
